Shelley Lewis a.k.a Chocolate Sauce is the Founder of Chocolate Sauce, Sacred Space, and writes on spirituality and living for the Huffington Post. Living between New York, London and Paris and an undisclosed island... her vision for Chocolate Sauce is to create something fun, wholesome and chic in the world of children's literature!
She moved to New York working for Christies in the contemporary art department and went onto work at the Museum of Modern Art in San Fransisco, but her passion to make a positive difference in the world led her to do volunteer work with the UN and National Science Foundation. It was her encounter with the children during a trip to Bangladesh working on the Sari Filtration Project that inspired her to set up Chocolate Sauce. Her first book ' A Key to the Heart' was created to connect children across cultures in peace and friendship and raise money to rebuild schools in Afghanistan.
The Now I Know Collection has taken many years to create, between managing the power shortages in Bhutan and the importance of honoring the sacredness of the one thousand year old texts. The Now I Know Collection is based on the Eight Verse Mind training of the Buddhist Master, Geshe Langri Thangpa, and has never before been translated for children. It comes well received in Buddhist and dharma circles but we hope that we can extend the wisdom of the teachings far and wide to audiences all over the world, honoring in particular the notion of what it means to be a wise being... in honor of that we're launching a Global Wisdom Day for children on 11.11.11 where we hear their thoughts on what it means to be wise...
